Special Order & Beverage Options
Alcoholic Beverage Service
Lost Wonder Hut is pleased to offer alcohol transportation service for our guests. Due to our remote backcountry location, all alcoholic beverages must be pre-ordered and paid for in advance.
How It Works:
- Indicate your alcohol preferences when booking
- We’ll purchase your selected items and transport them to the hut
- Your beverages will be waiting for you upon arrival
- All alcohol charges will be added to your final bill

Budget Package Recipes
Simple Pancakes Ingredients:
- 1 cup just-add-water pancake mix
- Water as directed on package
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
Instructions:
- Add water to pancake mix in a bowl and stir until just combined
- Heat a lightly oiled pan over medium heat
- Pour batter onto the pan in small circles
- Flip when bubbles form on surface
- Cook until golden brown on both sides
- Serve with maple syrup
Backcountry Pasta Alfredo Ingredients:
- 1 package Knorr Pasta Sides – Alfredo
- 1 can chicken (5 oz)
- 1/2 cup freeze-dried vegetables
- Pinch of garlic powder and pepper
Instructions:
- Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a pot
- Add pasta and contents of seasoning packet
- Reduce heat and simmer for 7-8 minutes, stirring occasionally
- Stir in drained chicken and rehydrated vegetables
- Add garlic powder and pepper to taste
- Remove from heat and let stand 2 minutes before serving
Standard Package Recipes
Mountain Scramble Ingredients:
- 2 servings egg crystals
- 2 oz shelf-stable bacon
- 1 serving dehydrated hash browns
- 2 English muffins
- 1 oz shelf-stable cheese
- Salt, pepper, and herbs to taste
Instructions:
- Rehydrate hash browns according to package directions
- Heat a small amount of oil in a pan
- Cook hash browns until crispy
- Reconstitute egg crystals according to package directions
- Pour eggs over hash browns
- Add crumbled bacon and cheese
- Scramble until eggs are set
- Season with salt, pepper, and herbs
- Serve with toasted English muffins
Backcountry Chili with Cornbread Ingredients:
- 1 package dehydrated chili mix
- 1 package cornbread mix
- 2 oz shelf-stable cheddar cheese
- 1 small can green chilies
Instructions:
- Prepare chili according to package directions
- While chili is cooking, prepare cornbread batter
- Add green chilies to cornbread batter
- Cook cornbread in a covered pan with some oil in the bottom
- Top chili with shredded cheese
- Serve chili with cornbread on the side

Herb-Marinated Grilled Chicken Ingredients:
- 2 marinated chicken breasts
- 1 bell pepper
- 1 zucchini
- Cherry tomatoes
- Fresh herbs
- 1 cup rice
- Coconut milk
- Garlic and onion
- Olive oil, salt, and pepper
Instructions:
- Start rice: combine 1 cup rice with 1 cup water and 1/2 cup coconut milk
- Bring to a boil, then simmer covered until liquid is absorbed
- Slice vegetables into large pieces for grilling
- Toss vegetables with olive oil, salt, and pepper
- Grill chicken breasts until internal temperature reaches 165°F
- Grill vegetables until tender
- Serve chicken over coconut rice with grilled vegetables

Pan-Seared Steak with Mushrooms and Potatoes Ingredients:
- 2 steak cuts (6-8 oz each)

Instructions:

Cooking Tips for Backcountry Meals
- One-Pot Wonders: Whenever possible, create meals that can be prepared in a single pot to minimize cleanup.
- Pre-Measure Ingredients: For multi-ingredient recipes, pre-measure and store together in ziplock bags.
- Cooking Times at Altitude: Water boils at a lower temperature at higher elevations. Increase cooking times for items that need to be boiled (pasta, rice, etc.).
- Prep Ahead: Do any chopping or mixing before setting out on the day’s ride to save time in the evening.
- Altitude Effects on Baking: Reduce leavening agents slightly when baking at high altitudes.
- Shelf Life: Even in cool mountain temperatures, treat all fresh foods with care.
- Cold Soaking: For extremely energy-efficient meals, some foods can be prepared by cold soaking (adding cold water and letting sit) rather than cooking.
